We were duly impressed with the results of the 2014 Sonoma Wine Country Weekend event and reached out to auctioneer Scott Robertson to secure his services for our 2015 gala. This was the first time in the 23-year history of the event – Dinner Under the Stars – that Becoming Independent hired a person who makes a full time career of auctioneering. Happily, this shift resulted in a significantly elevated experience from beginning to end. Our first annual ‘All Aboard Fest’ benefiting Susan G Komen was a major leap into the unknown for us at Snook Bight Yacht Club and Bayfront Bistro. Especially challenging was the idea of a $100/plate dinner and live auction. Would we fill the house? Would we have the right auction items and so on? From the start we knew the auctioneer was critical and our experience in the annual SW Florida Wine & Food Fest for Children’s Charities made the decision simple. Scott Robertson and his team of beauties have performed so well with the Wine & Food Fest that we were not surprised when we successfully generated over $70,000 on the auction night for our All Aboard Fest event. Scott got maximum price for every item and had everyone so fired up we were taking paintings off the wall and selling them to the highest bidder! Thanks Scott! A great job, once again.
What a joy and privilege it was working with Scott for the Guadalupe Center’s “A Taste of China” event. From the first moment of contact, his level of commitment and professionalism was front and center. He made the trip to Immokalee to tour the center, thereby becoming familiar with our purpose and need. He was always available to answer questions as we worked to build a successful auction – his input was invaluable, suggestions were excellent. The results were way beyond our projections. With his charm and enthusiasm, he had the crowd eating out of his hand – he even sold his gavel for $1500!! We have no doubt that if allowed, he would have successfully sold the left-overs. You worked an audience of 370+ Ducks Unlimited members into generating the most money our committee has raised in 20+ years! Many in the audience, and our committee commented to me both during and after the event that... 'you are the best auctioneer they have ever seen!'
