How The V.O.E. came to B.E.

There is no doubt the Internet has changed the way business is done. It’s fast. It’s effective. And it’s informational. The majority of businesses on the Internet today use part or all of their name in their Web site address. But as you already know, Scott Robertson’s name does not appear in his. Instead, his Web site address is www.thevoe.com

It was good timing, fate or simply plain luck, but just weeks before launching his new Web site, Scott attended a Benefit Auctioneer Boot Camp. Those who attended the intensive two-day camp, which took place in the spring of 2010, gathered together one last time at a party to talk war stories and discuss the virtues of their chosen craft.

During the course of the evening the challenge went out and all attendees were encouraged to perform a 30 second chant in a mock benefit auction. One after one each did their best. But after Scott’s 30-second performance one guest proclaimed, “Now that’s The Voice of Experience.” And it stuck ever since.

Scott has no plans to change his Web site address. Yes, he’s very proud of his name. He’s also very proud of the millions of dollars he helped to raise for charities around the country. And although THE VOE needs an explanation on occasion, Scott’s honored that many others have referred to him as “The Voice of Experience” since that fateful night with his friends and colleagues and the one insightful, life-changing guest.
